With such supportive teachers, I have been able to push my art to new levels and achieve goals that I never considered attempting. With their support I have been able to be involved in three juried student shows and had work in the Lander Review twice, even serving as the editor of the magazine last year. I was an active member of the Art Alliance and served as the secretary, VP and President. Also my art work has been displayed at the Mill House, Homemade Genius, and Pickens juried show. Lastly, for the past two years I have made a plate for Dishing It Out. I feel that all of this has prepared me to be a better artist. Also, traveling with the Art department to Holland was one of the best experiences I have ever had.

Upon coming to Lander, I wasn't an art major. After some searching I finally went back to the one subject I truly loved and wanted to be apart of. Since joining the Art department, tons of new opportunities have been offered. Not only have I been able to learn how to work with different media, such as acrylic, oil and different forms of printmaking. I have also been exposed to a new world of art with study abroad. 
Being here has also challenged me through good competition with other students. The talent here at Lander is endless and is a great starting point to get a feel of the "real" art environment. The teachers also challenge their students within their limits, which is very helpful. This makes it so you can progress and become a better artist without being discouraged by others who have been doing art for longer periods of time.
