    More than 50 Lander University students were honored recently for their scholastic accomplishments during the 2010-2011 academic year, receiving the top discipline and special awards from the university's four academic colleges.   • Lander honors film competition winners

    This Spring, Lander University hosted its second annual film festival and student short film competition. The competition challenged high school, college and open division entrants to submit a completed film between three and five minutes long. The filmmakers only had a week to complete their films and they were required to use a prop and a line provided by competition coordinators to ensure that films were not part of a previous project.

    Family and friends gathered at Lander University on April 20 to witness the spring induction of 44 students into Lander’s Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society. Dr. John Moore, associate professor of philosophy and the chapter coordinator, said the inductees are juniors or seniors in the top 10 percent of their class

  • Lander University Announces Art Show Winners

    Lander University’s 21st Annual Juried Student Exhibition ended with an awards ceremony at Monsanto Gallery. Pictured from left to right are: Cate Blackwell of Greer, first place in drawing/painting and people’s choice award; Melissa Humphries of Greenwood, first place in printmaking/photography; Justin Benjamin of Rock Hill, first place in 3-D art; Brandi Ouzts of Greenwood, Barbara Kinard Cornet Best in Show Award; and Latanya Brown of Lugoff, who shared first place in graphic design with Ellen Herring of Aiken (not shown). Emeritus associate professor of art Bob Poe, who served as judge, said he was impressed by the quality of the entries, which he called “inspired.”

    The Lander Magazine is a publication distributed primarily to alumni, donors and friends of the university to inform them of recent Lander activities and the accomplishments of faculty, staff, students and alumni. Started in 1972, the magazine is produced with diligent consideration by the Office of University Relations two times each year, with issues in spring and fall.
