Lander’s senior executive leadership team, the President’s Cabinet, is composed of six area vice presidents who work closely with the President to establish strategic goals and priorities for the University.

Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost - Suzanne Ozment

Dr. Suzanne Ozment serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Her administrative umbrella includes Lander’s academic colleges (Honors, Arts & Humanities; Behavioral & Social Sciences; Business; Education; and Science & Mathematics) and the School of Nursing. She also oversees the Jackson Library, Lander’s Study Abroad program, Continuing Education, and Institutional Research, Assessment and Effectiveness.

Vice President for Business and Administration - Greg M. Lovins

As Vice President for Business and Administration, Greg Lovins is Lander’s Chief Financial Officer and provides strategic vision and leadership for fiscal and administrative support service units of the University. Among his areas of responsibility are: the Bearcat Shop and Bookstore, Budget, Business Office, Finance, Student Accounts, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Printing Services, Procurement and Special Events.

Chief of Staff and Vice President for Governmental Relations - J. Adam Taylor

Adam TaylorAdam Taylor

Adam Taylor serves as Chief of Staff and the University’s legislative liaison with the South Carolina General Assembly in Columbia, and with the federal government in Washington, D.C. The Vice President for Governmental Relations is responsible for advising the President on public policy and legislation that impacts higher education, as well as for investigating opportunities for state and federal funding that support the university’s mission. The Office of University Relations falls under his administrative supervision.

Vice President for Student Affairs - H. Randall Bouknight

As Vice President for Student Affairs, Randy Bouknight oversees all areas that relate to the comfort, health and safety of Lander students. He supervises a far-reaching network of departments that includes Career Services, Cocurricular Activities, Campus Recreation and Intramurals, Counseling Services, Housing and Residence Life, University Police, Student Government, Student Health Services and more.

Interim Vice President for University Advancement - Van Taylor

Van Taylor serves as the Interim Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of The Lander Foundation. The Vice President for University Advancement supports the President in his advancement activities and leads the overall fundraising strategy for the University, including annual giving and comprehensive campaigns, as set forth by Lander’s strategic plan. Additionally, the Vice President for University Advancement oversees the Office of Alumni Affairs, ensuring positive and engaging relationships with an ever-growing network of Lander alumni.

Vice President for Enrollment and Access Management - Andy J. Benoit

As Vice President for Enrollment and Access Management, Andy Benoit spearheads and manages all of the University’s enrollment, registration, financial aid and transfer initiatives. Reporting to him are the University’s Office of Admissions, Orientation Programs, the Registrar’s Office, Veterans Services, International Programs, the Academic Success Center, and Financial Aid.

Director of Athletics - Brian Reese

As Director of Athletics, Brian Reese oversees the administration of Lander’s intercollegiate athletics program, which fields 10 varsity sports teams (five men’s and five women’s) in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Athletic Conference. The Bearcat Athletics program comprises more than 190 student-athletes and a staff of more than 25 coaches, trainers, administrators and support team members. In his role, the Director of Athletics promotes the university’s principles of academic achievement and good sportsmanship, helping student-athletes be leaders in the classroom, and on the courts and playing fields.

General Counsel - Crystal Rookard

As General Counsel, Crystal Rookard plays a vital role in providing legal and strategic advice to the Lander University president, Board of Trustees and other senior administrators. Additionally, the Office of Human Resources reports to her, and she has extensive experience in the areas of Title IX, the Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act, and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act. She has also conducted training courses on employee relations, human resource management and legal issues, anti-discrimination, sexual harassment, supervisory training and workplace laws.

Assistant Vice President of University Relations and Publications - Megan V. Price

As Assistant Vice President of University Relations and Publications, Megan Varner Price serves as the university’s official spokesperson and leads the team of writers, designers and photographers responsible for Lander’s digital and print communications, marketing and public relations. The Office of University Relations works closely with the President’s Cabinet and other campus departments to develop and communicate strategic messaging, as well as provide guidance and assistance with community outreach efforts.

Assistant Vice President for Planning, Analytics & Decision-Support - Matt Braaten

Matt BraatenMatt Braaten

Matt Braaten serves as Assistant Vice President for Planning, Analytics & Decision-support. He is responsible for providing high-level, analytically based advice to the President, strategic planning, leadership and oversight of Institutional Research and Decision-Support personnel, and alignment of cabinet-level goals to the mission and vision of the university.  He is relied on to conceive the analytical and statistical modeling approaches required to answer key questions, and to deliver usable information with the narrative to explain it for cabinet-level management and policy decisions.
