Lander University will hold its annual Bearcat Fan Day in Uptown Greenwood on Thursday, June 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The festivities will take place in the shadow of the university's 11-foot tall Bearcat topiary near Countybank Plaza.

Assistant Alumni Affairs Director Debbie Dill said Fan Day is a sanctioned South Carolina Festival of Flowers event. "We invite the community to join us and share in the celebration."

Dill added there will be free food and beverages, games for children, face painting, prizes and live entertainment featuring Jazz 42 and Becky Greene's Hot Mess. Greene is a Lander graduate.

Youngsters can have their photos taken with the Bearcat, Lander's official
mascot, and two miniature horses from the university's Equestrian Center.

This will be the fourth year that the Bearcat topiary has been part of the Festival of Flowers' topiary display. Dill emphasized that Bearcat Fan Day is a celebration of all things Lander, an opportunity for people to learn more about the university, its academic programs and athletics. The event is free and open to the public.
