As the result of a recent agreement between Lander University and the Self Family Foundation, the Self family archives now have a new home: the Larry A. Jackson Library.

At a Thursday, Nov. 1 closing reception for Lander University's Alpha Art Teacher Exhibit, six of the MAT students whose work has been on display met members of the public and answered questions about their work.

Two of Lander University's academic departments have undergone name changes as approved by the university's Board of Trustees at its most recent meeting in late September.

Greenwood Lander Performing Arts' 66th season continues at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium, with a performance by a cappella group Ball in the House.

Students and family members are expected to flock to Greenwood Mall on Tues., Oct. 30, for College Night, where they will have an opportunity to obtain information about colleges and universities from across the state and elsewhere. The event will be held from 6-8 p.m.

Lander University will hold its annual Eleanor Shiflet Teal Scholarship Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Finis Horne Arena in the university's Athletics Center.

Mac Wyckoff grew up in Oregon where, he said, there is virtually no interest in or knowledge about the American Civil War. He told an interviewer that he was a history major at Linfield College, in McMinnville, Ore., but he recalls only one lecture on the Civil War.

Lander University's equestrian team will host an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competitive event on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28, at the Equestrian Center on Hwy. 72/221. Shows will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. They are free and open to the public. This will be the third year Lander has been the site of the competition.
