    Lander University will hold its spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m., in the university's Finis Horne Arena. Degrees will be awarded to 296 students including 12 international students from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Finland, France, Sweden and Zimbabwe.

    Students in Jim Slagle's upper-level graphic design classes at Lander University get to put their classroom training into practice by working on projects for clients beyond the campus. Slagle is an assistant professor of art at Lander.

  • Lander's summer Continuing Education courses cover a broad range of subjects

    Lander University is accepting applications for its summer continuing education courses, the first of which will begin late in May and continue through August. Coordinator Shelley Grund said there are more than two dozen courses on the schedule, plus four small business development programs and classes to prepare high school students who are planning to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Because of their popularity, some courses have limits on enrollment.

  • Greenwood Mayor Adams Proclaims "Tennis Week" in conjunction with PBC Tournament

    In conjunction with Lander University hosting the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships this weekend, Greenwood Mayor Welborn Adams officially declared April 16-22 as "Tennis Week" in the City of Greenwood.

  • Lander hosts Fuji summer science programs for students in grades 4 through 12

    Lander University is accepting applications for the annual Fuji Summer Science and Mathematics Enrichment program for students in grades four through high school hosted by the university. The program, which begins in June, is sponsored by a grant from Fuji Photo Film in Greenwood and offers talented students a challenging educational experience with opportunities for fun and a taste of university life at Lander.

    Christin Moss, of Williamston, finished at the top of her graduating class in December, qualifying her for Lander's prestigious Thayer Award, presented on behalf of the family of Dr. Henry K. Thayer to the graduating senior achieving the highest scholastic average.

  • Announcement Regarding Lander's UCG Office

    Lander University will discontinue its operations at the University Center of Greenville, effective July 31, 2012. Although Lander will no longer offer classes at the University Center of Greenville, this change will not have a negative impact on any student program schedule as Lander classes may be taken online, through directed independent study options, or on the Greenwood campus. Lander faculty and staff are committed to helping students reach graduation, and a clear path has been charted for Lander's University Center students to graduate as planned.

    Lander University associate professor of music Dr. Robert Gardiner, who leads the Lander University Jazz Ensemble, makes no secret of his admiration for jazz great Duke Ellington, and Ellington's signature tune, "Take the 'A' Train," will be among the highlights of the jazz ensemble's spring show.
