Alumni Homecoming Weekend Events

Friday, March 1st

BEARCAT PASSES for Sports Break and complimentary reduced ticket coupons for the basketball games will be available at the Golf Outing, Alumni Social, Young Alumni Waffle Breakfast and Alumni Tailgating.

Noon
Alumni Golf Outing - Enjoy a relaxing round of golf at Greenwood Country Club. Cost of $60 per person covers golf fees & cart, lunch and goodie bag. Lunch will be served at the Country Club starting at 11:00AM.  Two alumni minimum per 4-man team. You must preregister and prepay.

Shot gun start at 12 noon. You will be able to begin registration by 10:30 a.m.  We will have a putting contest that begins at 11:30 a.m. $5 entry fee for the putting contest. You can buy $5 mulligan’s…maximum of two each player. You can buy $5 Red Tees… maximum of two each player.

One player with everything… Golf, lunch, practice balls, gift, putting contest, 2 mulligans, and two Red Tees… $85. Foursome with everything… $340

Soapbox Race, Bonfire and Concert – Young Alumni are invited to attend this annual tradition! Soapbox Race judging will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the race will start at 5 p.m. The Bonfire will immediately follow with a cookout and concert. Don’t miss the great tunes provided by Orange Magnolia! Afterward, join other alumni at Cambridge Hall for a joint social.

7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Alumni Social – All Alumni are invited to join us for a social at Cambridge Hall from 7-9 p.m. Enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar while catching up on old times. We will also have drawings for door prizes! Cost is $5, free to current Tower Club members. Please RSVP to mgreene@lander.edu. Sponsored by Tower Club-Greenwood and Young Alumni Council.

7:00 p.m. – Until
Outcasts Intramural Reunion – Join former Outcast Kevin Prater and Wayne White at Sports Break for a night of reminiscing on your days at Lander. Everyone is welcome, even if you were not an intramural player and just want to listen to some great stories!

9:00 p.m. – Until
Sports Break – Kevin Prater ’84 welcomes alumni for an evening of reminiscing, food and fellowship. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres served 9-11 p.m.

Saturday, March 2nd

Complimentary reduced ticket coupons for the Lander Basketball games will be available at Young Alumni Waffle Breakfast and Alumni Tailgating.

8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Young Alumni Council Waffle Breakfast Fundraiser – Join us on the Johnston Commons Bridge (3rd floor area between Grier Student Center and Abney Cultural Center) for a delicious waffle breakfast and help the Young Alumni Council raise money for the Student Wellness Fund. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for ages 11 and under. Breakfast includes: waffles, toppings, bacon, coffee, O.J. and milk. Advance tickets can be purchased through YAC members or by calling the Alumni Office at 864-388-8351.

9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Kids Fun Zone – Alumni, bring your kids to the Johnston Commons plaza for a fun event for the whole family! Alumni will be able to reconnect while kids from ages 3-8 enjoy the Bouncy House and ages 9-12 enjoy the X-Box and Wii game zone. We will also have face painting, corn hole and photos with the Bearcat! This is a FREE event and sponsored by the Young Alumni Council.

10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Lander Bearcat Shop – Visit the bookstore from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and check out the great-looking Lander apparel and merchandise. 10% off Alumni discount coupons will be available at the Young Alumni Waffle Breakfast Registration table.

11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Alumni Tailgating – Alumni of all ages are welcomed to the Sproles Recreation Center (adjacent to outdoor pool and beside the Jackson Library) for a great time of fellowship, as we get ready to cheer on the Bearcats to victory! Bearcat burgers and dogs grilled up by our own Wayne White and Erwin Finkbeiner along with bearcat beans, chips and soft drinks will be available for $5 per person.  Our specialty Bearcat Blue and Lander Golden Lily Home Brews, courtesy of Greenwood Home Brewers Association, will be served up by our own Lander Lily Kat Finkbeiner for $2 a serving. Lunch in the Lander Dining Hall – Lander’s Dining Hall will be open for alumni to enjoy a fantastic, all-you-can-eat lunch. Cost is $6.00 per person; pay at the door.

Women’s Basketball – Lander vs. Francis Marion Patriots, Horne Arena. Crowning of Homecoming King at halftime.

3:30 p.m.
Men’s Basketball – Lander vs. Francis Marion Patriots, Horne Arena. Recognition of the 2013 Alumni Awards recipients and crowning of Homecoming Queen at halftime.

4:30 p.m.
Baseball – Lander vs. North Georgia, Dolny Stadium (Jeff May Complex)

7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
