Housing and Residence Life
As a resident student your life
will center around the campus through the various
activities including student organizations and athletics. The decision
to live on campus will prove to be an exciting one by taking advantage
of the assortment of activities that are available.
The
Residential Life staff aids students in building a living and learning
environment. Living on campus will provide many opportunities to become
involved with the University. Residence Hall living can improve
performance in the classroom. For example, learning outside the
classroom will be enhanced by the diversity of people you will meet on
a daily basis.
Resident Assistants are assigned to each
building. Resident Assistants (RA's) are upper-class students who live
on each floor or building. Their role is to make life easier and to be
a close, accessible source of information and guidance. They will plan
several activities throughout each semester to help build community
among the resident students. Students are encouraged to discuss with
the Area Coordinator and Resident Assistants their ideas about programs
and their living environment.
The Resident Assistants distribute
information on activities, athletics, programs, room sign-up, etc. as
requested by various offices across the campus. Most importantly, when
you need advice or just someone to listen, you can turn to your RA.
Furthermore, the Resident Assistants serve as a liaison between the
Department of Housing and Residence Life and other administrative
offices, organizations and resident students.
