Hazardous Material Spill

Any spillage or release of a hazardous chemical is to be reported immediately to University Police. Be prepared to give your name, exact location, and if possible what chemical has spilled.

The site should be vacated immediately. Any person who may be contaminated by the spill is to utilize an emergency shower or eye wash. After utilizing the emergency shower exit the area and report to emergency workers.

The determination will be made depending upon what type of chemical is involved to evacuate the building or adjacent buildings. Once outside move to a safe area at least 500 feet up hill and up wind of the affected area.

University Officials such as University Police, University Administration, LU Campus Emergency Response Team, Local Law Enforcement, or Greenwood Fire Department Personnel will assist in instructing you in where to evacuate to.

Do not return to an evacuated building unless told to do so by University Officials.
