High School Guidance Counselors
Lander University values the huge role that Guidance Counselors play in challenging students to succeed. We realize what an important job you perform, so we want to provide you with the tools you may need to inform your students of what Lander has to offer them.
Information for your High School Students High School Course Prerequisites
Students who are accepted into Lander are expected to have completed a rigorous high school curriculum including Advanced Placement and College Preparatory classes if offered by the school. Lander recommends that applicants for freshman admission to complete these courses.

In order to review a student's application to Lander, the following information is required:

Information for Guidance Counselors Guidance Counselor Luncheons
Each year, we invite our Guidance Counselors to a complimentary lunch at a restaurant in their area to both thank them for their outstanding work and to update them on all the new, exciting things happening at Lander. These lunches are done throughout the year. We hope that you all the counselors at your school can join us for your area’s luncheon.
Guidance Counselor Lunches
- September 26, 2014 – Anderson, SC
- November 21, 2014 – York, SC
Each year, Lander asks Guidance Counselors from each high school in South Carolina to nominate a maximum of four juniors for the Junior Fellows award from Lander University.
To be considered for this award, nominees should:
- rank in the top 20 percent of their junior class, and
- score a minimum of 25 on the ACT, 115 on the PSAT, or 1150 on the SAT (Critical Reading and Math portions only)
- have at least a 3.5 grade point average
- exemplify leadership in both academics and co-curricular activities
Guidance Counselors will need to fill out the Junior Fellows Nomination Form and send it back to Lander’s Office of Admissions by February 28th.
We welcome groups of all sizes for a visit tailored to the ages of the visitors from high school down to elementary school. Come for the day and have lunch with us, or you may just want to take the tour. Either way, we’re here to please, so let us know how you’d like for the day to go and we’ll try to do all we can to ensure your happiness.

Lander University takes pride in our effort to visit every high school in the state of South Carolina, as well as many in Georgia and North Carolina, at some point each school year. Each area is assigned an Admissions Counselor who travels there exclusively so that personal connections can be made.
