First-time freshman are required to submit a deposit to confirm their attendance to Lander University. Freshman will receive a first semester class schedule at orientation if they confirm their intent to attend. You can pay a $225 housing deposit (if you are planning to live on-campus) OR an $100 advanced tuition deposit (if you are planning to live off-campus). All other new students confirm their attendance to Lander when they register for classes, although all students requesting on-campus housing are required to submit a contract and deposit.
Housing on Campus
The Residence Life staff aids students in building a living and learning environment. Living on campus will provide many opportunities to become involved with the University. Residence Hall living can improve performance in the classroom. If you are planning on living on campus, please send in your housing application and deposit as soon as possible. Housing assignments are given to students based on the submission date of the application and deposit – first come, first served. For more information visit Housing and Residence Life.
We know that college can be a huge undertaking financially. If you plan to apply for Financial Aid, you will need to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. Lander has a priority deadline of March 1st. This way we can let you know how much financial aid you can receive at an early date. For more information, please visit Financial Aid.
Freshman students are required to attend EXPO, a three day, two night freshman orientation program, designed to show you the ropes at Lander University. From getting involved on campus, to tips on how to make A’s during your first semester--EXPO will cover it all! Students are assigned an EXPO group which is led by a current Lander student. EXPO leaders are ready and able to answer any and all questions about Lander. Also, students are introduced to their fellow classmates at several organized socials on campus! For more information and how to register for EXPO Orientation visit their website.
All other new students are invited to attend New Student Orientation which is designed to educate incoming students on the various policies, procedures, contacts, and resources available to them. This one-day orientation gives an overview of important Lander information and then allows students to visit offices to ask vital questions and take care of any loose ends before the semester begins. This day aids our new students in making a smooth transition to the Lander campus.
All new students must take the Math Skills Assessment or Pre-Calculus Test as well as the Foreign Language Placement exam. Both tests are available online and should be taken before attending orientation. Students transferring in college-level math and/or foreign language credit may qualify to exempt the test. Click here for instructions on how to complete the Placement Tests.
Please submit your immunization forms before attending orientation. The form is sent in your acceptance packet. If you need a new form, please visit the Health Services webpage.
Lander University is required under guidelines enacted by the South Carolina Legislature to determine the resident status of applicants and students for purposes of fees and tuition. The initial determination of one’s resident status is made at the time of admission. The determination made at that time, and any determination made thereafter, prevails for each subsequent semester unless the person’s situation changes. For more information and forms, please go to Admissions Forms.
