Applying for Summer Aid

Summer aid is a separate process from the academic year application process, and requires a separate summer aid application to be completed by the student. Aid for summer sessions is awarded based on unused eligibility from the academic year preceding the summer terms.

To apply for financial aid for summer school:

  1. Be sure you have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the prior Award Year. (example - The 2010-2011 FAFSA would be required for Summer 2011 aid.)
  2. Submit a complete Lander Summer School Aid Application to the Financial Aid Office by April 1. These applications are available on the web and in the Financial Aid Office on March 1 each year.

Please note:

  • In order to be considered for Summer School financial aid, you must be a degree-seeking student at Lander University and you must be enrolling for Summer School at Lander University.
  • In order to be eligible for a Federal Stafford Student Loan and/or a Federal Parent Loan (PLUS), you must be enrolled in at least six (6) hours total during the Summer School sessions. For example, you can enroll in 3 hours Summer Session I and 3 hours Summer Session II and qualify for funding through the Federal Direct Student Loan Programs and/or the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan program.
  • For a Schedule of Summer fees, see the Business Office webpage.
  • Lander students cannot receive aid from Lander to attend other institutions during the summer with the exception of approved Study Abroad programs requiring enrolling during the summer and for which the student will receive official grades for a summer term.
