Being a student in the School of Nursing at Lander takes a lot of focus, time, perseverance and dedication. All the challenges are worth it, though, and I could not see myself wanting to do anything else at Lander. I love nursing and I love Lander’s School of Nursing. Both challenge you to be a better student and a better person. The School of Nursing at Lander is a great program and has dynamic faculty who not only teach their students but mold great nurses. They prepare you well for your career.

I chose Lander University to pursue my nursing degree because of Lander’s widely recognized reputation for excellence, accreditation and superior certification pass rate. Lander’s holistic philosophy of health care perfectly matches my belief that health care providers must strive to meet the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of the patients for which they provide care. From the moment I entered the School of Nursing at Lander, my classes have been stimulating, rigorous and insightful. Unlike the larger universities in South Carolina, Lander limits acceptance to a small number allowing you to experience a very individualized program of instruction. My nursing professors are knowledgeable, caring and always willing to assist individual students, because each of them actively work in a clinical setting and provide the most current pedagogy. The invaluable opportunities to provide healthcare in various settings throughout the surrounding community have certainly enhanced my learning and enabled me to put into service the skills that I have learned in the classroom.

When searching for colleges, it was important for me to select the one I felt most comfortable with. I was attracted to Lander University because of its closeness to home and its smaller classroom size. This smaller classroom size has allowed me to interact with professors and fellow students on a level that would not have been possible at a larger institution. In the short time that I have been in the nursing program, the knowledge I have received in the classroom and in clinical has been first-rate. As I move along in the program I feel that Lander will do an excellent job at guiding me on the right path to becoming a successful nurse.
