Why study psychology at Lander?

When asked why they want to major in psychology, most students respond, "Because I want to help people."

While psychology is certainly a helping profession, in order to help others you must also be grounded in the science of psychology. You must be able to approach and gather information, conceptualize problems and arrive at reasonable conclusions about what is needed to change problematic behavior.

All of our psychology programs at Lander are designed to provide students with these skills and prepare them for rewarding careers in a variety of settings.

Did you know ...

  • Psychology majors have the opportunity to present research papers and posters at regional and national academic conferences. In recent years, students have presented at the South Carolina Psychological Association's Annual Conference, Southeastern Psychological Association Conference and the Annual Convention for the Behavioral Sciences.
  • You can open the door to international adventure by taking part in Lander's international programs. Our students have gained world perspectives on health, politics, history and culture through study abroad and faculty tours in Europe, Africa, and Central and South America.
