Lander students prepare for study program in Korea
Four Lander University students have been selected to attend a three-week international summer session at Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea. They will become the first Lander students to study in Korea under recent agreements Lander made with Dong-A and six other colleges and universities in Korea and China. The agreements will enable students from Lander and the other institutions to study on each other’s campuses starting this year.

Lander honors film competition winners
This Spring, Lander University hosted its second annual film festival and student short film competition. The competition challenged high school, college and open division entrants to submit a completed film between three and five minutes long. The filmmakers only had a week to complete their films and they were required to use a prop and a line provided by competition coordinators to ensure that films were not part of a previous project.

Meghan Hawley – Lander Nursing Department's Bright Light Shines On
In 2008, then Lander nursing major Meghan Diane Hawley of Orangeburg was diagnosed with cancer and would have to undergo treatment. As medical expenses began to mount, Hawley's classmates and faculty members at Lander rallied to her aid, raising thousands of dollars and even supplying her with a hospital survival kit filled with snacks, drinks and other essentials for recovery.

Equestrian director achieves certification
Nancy Poston, director of Lander University’s Equestrian Center, has been certified as a therapeutic riding instructor by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). The certification process was a two-year program of intensive study that included classroom learning and hands-on experience with riders and horses. In its promotional material, NARHA says a registered instructor is able to teach riding skills to individuals with disabilities.
