In the summer of 2007, newly hired Lander University assistant librarian Mike Berry was working in the archives of the Larry A. Jackson Library when a volume with a white vellum binding caught his eye.

As the result of a recent agreement between Lander University and the Self Family Foundation, the Self family archives now have a new home: the Larry A. Jackson Library.

Lander University has announced 10 appointments to the Board of Trustees of The Lander Foundation, which receives, manages and invests gifts for the welfare of the university. Two of the members are faculty appointees: Dr. Paige Ouzts, who was appointed to a second term, and Dr. David Mash, dean of Library Services, who is new to the board.

A missing chapter in Lander University's history can now be read, thanks to an unexpected gift received by the Larry A. Jackson Library.

A math book written by Lander University founder Samuel Lander during the Civil War is now among the holdings of the Larry A. Jackson Library.
