    More than 50 Lander University students were recently honored for their scholastic accomplishments during the 2012-13 academic year, receiving the top academic discipline and special awards from the university's four colleges. The awards were presented during Lander's annual Academic Awards ceremony, held at the conclusion of the spring semester.

  • Well-known Civil War historian to deliver presentation at Lander

    Mac Wyckoff grew up in Oregon where, he said, there is virtually no interest in or knowledge about the American Civil War. He told an interviewer that he was a history major at Linfield College, in McMinnville, Ore., but he recalls only one lecture on the Civil War.

  • Lander dean receives new administrative position

    Two Lander University administrators, who are also faculty members, are preparing to take on new responsibilities. University president Dr. Daniel Ball announced the appointment of Dr. Alice Taylor-Colbert, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, as associate vice president for Academic Affairs. Dr. Renee Love will fill the position Taylor-Colbert is relinquishing and serve as interim dean of the college. The two appointments become effective Aug. 15.

    Lander University has extended its perfect record for placing students in the Washington, D.C. Semester Internship Program of the University of South Carolina Honors College. Another two Lander students have been accepted, bringing to seven the number who have applied and been selected.

  • Kappa Sigma 'Adopt-a-Highway' Cleanup

    A group of Lander University students who are members of Kappa Sigma Fraternity spent Fridays in January cleaning a stretch of Highway 72 in Greenwood, between Bojangles and Starbucks, as part of an Adopt-a-Highway community service project.

  • Student Academic Showcase planned for March 7-8

    Lander University's Second Annual Student Academic Showcase will spotlight excellence in research and creativity during presentations and judging on Wednesday, March 7, and an awards ceremony on Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. Co-sponsored by Lander's College of Arts and Humanities and Alpha Chi International Honor Society, the showcase will include examples of student scholarship and creativity from the five departments of the College of Arts and Humanities (Art, English and Foreign Languages, History and Philosophy, Mass Communication and Theatre, and Music) as well as from the Social Sciences, the Sciences, Computer Information Systems and Mathematics.
