Lander University students Brandy Cessarich, left, a graphic design major from Greenville, and Kelly Plemmons, a business administration major from Spartanburg, recently won two of the top three awards at the 1st Annual Collegiate Invitational Art Exhibition held at the Spartanburg County Library.

Thomas Covar has been appointed interim vice president of Business and Administration at Lander University.

Valentina Bueno, a sophomore member of Lander University's women's golf team, was among 10 female and male golfers who represented Peru in an amateur championship, matching players from nine countries in South America.

Two of Lander University's academic departments have undergone name changes as approved by the university's Board of Trustees at its most recent meeting in late September.

Summer Sprouse, of Greenwood, graduated from Lander University in April with bachelor of science degree in business with an accounting emphasis. Early in July she was informed that she was the recipient of Lander's coveted Thayer Award presented on behalf of the family of Dr. Henry K. Thayer to the graduating senior achieving the highest scholastic average.

Claire Parks, center, of North Augusta, a business administration major with marketing/management emphasis, was awarded the Ed Troublefield Scholarship.

Eight Lander University business administration students have been awarded the Jean T. McFerrin Scholarship, established in 1988 by Jean and Cecil McFerrin. Jean McFerrin, a 1948 Lander graduate, maintained close ties with her alma mater and held numerous positions with the Alumni Association, The Lander Foundation and the Board of Trustees.

Lander University business administration majors Nichole Upton, left, of Greenwood, and Latraveus Mathis, center, of Greenwood, have been selected to receive the G. Bonner and Martha B. Harvley Scholarship, established in 1999 by Martha H. Dunlap in honor of her parents, G. Bonner and Martha B. Harvley. Selection for the scholarship, awarded to business administration majors, is based on criteria including character, academic record and recommendation by a high school or college counselor.

Four students in Lander University's College of Business and Public Affairs have been selected to receive the Frances P. Harris Scholarship, which is awarded to students majoring in the field of business administration.
