  • Child car seat safety check To be held at Lander

    The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Lander University’s Police Department will conduct a child passenger car seat safety check on Thursday, July 21, between 10 a.m. and noon on the Lander campus.

  • University business student receives Alumni Departmental Scholarship

    Lander University business administration major Janza Walker of Inman, has been awarded a scholarship by Lander’s Department of Business Administration. Walker, pictured right, received the Alumni Departmental Scholarship, one of 14 provided annually to each of the university’s academic departments by the Lander University Alumni Association. Also pictured is Lander’s Dr. Douglas Grider, dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs.

  • University business student receives Abbeville Savings and Loan Scholarship

    Lander University student Meredith Milner, of Abbeville, a business administration major with marketing/management emphasis, has received the Abbeville Savings & Loan Scholarship. Established in 2005, the scholarship provides financial assistance to a junior or senior business major from Abbeville or Greenwood counties.     Lander University conferred degrees upon 247 graduates at the university’s spring commencement ceremonies in April. United States Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-South Carolina) delivered the keynote address to a full house at Lander’s Horne Arena.

  • Lander University graduate receives Thayer Award

    Lander’s top academic honor for spring 2011 graduates went to Amber Nicole Scates, of Greenwood, who received the Thayer Award. The award is presented on behalf of the family of Dr. Henry K. Thayer to the graduating senior achieving the highest scholastic average, provided that the student has earned at least 60 credit hours in residence at Lander and that the student’s grade point average is at least 3.75.

  • Two Lander students receive Capitol Hill work assignments

    Lander University political science majors Conner Lewis and Christopher Ty Grogan, both from Greenwood, will be working in the offices of two members of South Carolina’s congressional delegation this fall. They were selected for Washington Semester Internships sponsored by the University of South Carolina Honors College in Columbia.

  • Exhibition Showcases Artwork of MAT Graduates

    Graduates of Lander University’s Master of Arts in Teaching in art education program pose outside Lander’s Monsanto Gallery during the opening reception of their graduate exhibition. The mosaics, drawings, sculptures, paintings, photography and other artwork created by the graduates will be on display through Thursday, July 28. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. -3 p.m., Monday-Thursday.

  • Lander trustees approve tuition increase citing a 5 percent cut in state assistance

    In a continued effort to close an economic gap created by a weak economy and more cuts from the state, Lander University's Board of Trustees approved a 3.95 percent tuition increase for the 2011-12 academic year.
