Lander accepting registration for annual cheer and dance clinic

December 12, 2013
Girls who are interested in learning routines performed by Lander University's cheerleaders and dance team are encouraged to enroll in the university's annual Bearcat Buddies Cheer & Dance Camp, scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2014.

Lander Spirit Program coordinator Kim Schoolfield said girls ages 3-12 are eligible to take part in the one-day camp, which will be held in Lander's Chandler Center PEES gym from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to learning choreographed routines, cheers and dances, youngsters will get to perform with the Lander Cheerleaders and Bearcat Dance Team that afternoon during halftime of the Lander women's basketball game in Horne Arena.

Schoolfield said cheering and dancing are fantastic ways for participants to have fun while building their athleticism and self-confidence. "Parents of former Bearcat Buddies tell us their daughters look forward to the next camp even before the current one ends," she said.

She added that the camp would make a wonderful - and unique - Christmas gift. "It's a gift that won't lose its excitement after the wrappings are gone," she said.

Camp information and registration forms can be found here "Bearcat Buddies".

The deadline for early registration is December 20, and the fee is $25. After December 20, the registration fee will be $35.
