Lander welcomes alumni back for Homecoming Weekend

January 13, 2012

Lander University graduates will gather on campus Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, for Homecoming Weekend headlined as "Laissez les bons temps rouler," the Cajun expression, that translates to "Let the good times roll."

The theme is meant to characterize the many fun activities scheduled during the two- day celebration when alumni will have a chance to get together with classmates and reminisce about their days at Lander.

The kick-off event will be a golf tournament on Friday. It will be followed by a number of social events, including a festive Mardi Gras party Saturday evening. On Saturday morning, alumni are invited to bring their children to a family fun zone in the Johnston Commons for face painting, carnival games and refreshments.

The Lander Bearcats women's and men's basketball teams will be in action Saturday afternoon as they take on the Francis Marion University Patriots. The winners of this year's alumni awards will be announced at halftime of the men's game.

The week leading up to Homecoming Weekend will be filled with a number of events for current Lander students, including a king and queen contest, field day and the popular soapbox parade and race.
