During a ceremony in the F. Mitchell Johnson Board Room, Lander University officials awarded the top academic honor, the university's Thayer Award, for fall 2012 graduates to John Hudson, of Greenville.

In honor of the NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation National Fitness Day, Lander University's Department of Campus Recreation and Intramurals hosted a strength challenge, where students could compete for the title of "Strongest Bearcat."

Dr. Anthony Lenti, of Greenwood, professor emeritus of music at Lander University, has been inducted into the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA) Hall of Fame, recognizing more than four decades of excellence as a music teacher.

Three Lander University graduates in the fields of business and law are this year's winners of the Lander Alumni Association's top awards.

Plans are under way to create a unique learning experience for residents of the Greenwood area and the Lakelands region.
